What will the weather be today? Usually we do this on the Smartboard but it was not working this morning. Our friend rolled with it and checked the weather anyway. She even told her friends what they need to wear on a day like today. Our friends are good with going with the flow! Jesus Time: Zippy came to school today and talked to the students about Jesus making the whole world! Practice our Bible Verse with your child. Genesis 1: 10, "God saw that it was good." Fire Drill: Today, students and I practiced for a fire. Students had calm bodies and quiet voices when lining up. SO PROUD! This is very important to practice so when it does happen for real then we will know what to do without panicking! During Outside Time, students climbed on the monkey bars, ran, baked, and more. Try to find your child. Guest Reader: Mrs. Stuhr came into our classroom and read us two stories about people that did BIG things for God. Center 1: We have a new letter this week. L! I had some clues I gave the students on words that started with L and they had to guess what letter it was. We then came up with words that start with this letter. Students then wrote the letter L. During this time, we talked about the Big Line and the Little Line and how they make a L. Center 2: Students were to unwrap the straws with their hands and then cut some straws with scissors. This activity helps strengthen the muscles in their hands and shows them the RIGHT way to use scissors. Please have your child practice cutting with scissors at home. Center 3: For Jesus Time, we talked about how Jesus made the WHOLE world and thought it was good! Students were to use their small motor skills to cut out the circle and paint the world to remind us that God made the WHOLE world. During Free Choice Time, Students could explore anywhere around the room. Students have been very interested in puppets, the kitchen area, and the sensory table. During this time, students are working on their social and emotional development, literacy development, mathematics development. During Gym Time, we went outside to play. It was very hot so a lot of friends decided to play in the shade. Students loved to bake together, balance on the logs, play tag, and more. Students are working on their problem solving skills, balancing skills, and their large motor movement.

Free Choice: This Morning, students could explore anything in the room. Two friends sat and look/read a book, some colored, and others worked together to build a huge tower. There was a lot of teamwork! I took a quick pictures before we sang our song as a group...We sang the Mat Man song and did the actions to the song. This song helps us with knowing parts on our bodies and prepares us for writing the Long Line, Little Line, Big Curve, and Little Curve in our letters. Jesus Time: Zippy, our puppet, came today! He forgot my name but we know that Jesus knows us each by name and loves us so much! Check out the Religion in the Classroom page to read our Bible Verse. Students love to play together outside. This is a great time to solve problems, use their words, and build up their large motor muscles. Center 1: Students wrote letters to their parents. Some students told me what they wanted to write and I wrote the words on another piece of paper for them to write on their own and some students worked on sounding out the words and wrote the words on their paper. Students are working on their fine motor while holding a pencil, writing letters, and sounding out the words to spell it out on paper. Check out their letters tonight! Center 2: Students were to cut the colored paper and make a design on the white paper. Students are working on their fine motor skills and how to use scissor the correct way/ the safe way. At home, have your child cut paper to strengthen their hand muscles. This is going to help them in the future with writing, cutting, picking up items, and more. Center 3: Students were to work together to build a road that goes around the classroom. This picture is just the start of that road! Students are learning how to problem solve and how to build connections with their friends. Free Choice: This is an awesome time to observe students and to see what their interests are. Some students were exploring the balance and we talked about how we could tell which insect/rock is heavier. Free Choice Time is a great time to build on to students knowledge. ICE CREAM party won :) Jesus Time: We practiced our take home verse, Isaiah 43:1, "I have called you by name, you are mine." Then I read us a story called You are Special by Max Lucado to remind us of how God made us so special. During Free Choice Time, we traced our hands on a red heart to know that we are loved by God. Mat Man: The students and I sang a song about Mat Man and then built him as a group. Objective: Knowledge of self and helps them with knowing the BIG curve, Little curve, Long line, and short line for writing. Outside Time: Students love playing in this cool weather with friends. Objective: Builds relationships of mutual trust and respect with one another/ Building large motor skills. Center 1: Students were to sort the blocks by color into bowls. Objective: Makes Comparisons Center 2: Students were to cut along the lines. Objective: Uses Fine Motor with a purpose. Center 3: Students were to draw on a white puzzle with crayons or markers. Objective: Uses fine motor skills with purpose and coordination. We learned that God's word is true...God's word is also the BIBLE! Students prayed, sang, and Graham took our offering to the Altar. Objective: Recites prayers or says his/her own prayers Mrs. Haun came to visit us again with TWO NEW BOOKS! One book about Feelings and the other book about Pete the Cat. The students love when she comes in! Outside Time: Students played outside with their friends...They are not only working on their social skills but their LARGE Motor Skills as well. Center 1: Students were to make a collage out of colored paper and glue it onto the white paper. This is a awesome activity that works on students LISTENING SKILLS and their Fine Motor Skills. Mystery Guest: Mrs. Haun ( Early Childhood Director) came into our classroom with a fun name game, a surprise animal, and a first day of school book. Students enjoyed having her come to visit! Outside Time: Today, there was so much exploring outside. Ask your child what they found and put in our bug habitat. As a large group, we read these three books. It gave us some ideas on where there are shapes all around us. As a center, students would be hunting for these shapes. Center 1: Students made Birthday Cards for Mrs. Schmidt, our School Secretary. Center 2: Students were to look at books. This works on holding the book correctly, turning the pages the correct way, and finding letters on the page. Center 3: Students went with Mrs. Burnham into the hallway to find circles, squares, and rectangles. We delivered Mrs. Schmidt's Birthday Cards to her and sang her our Goofy Birthday Song! Free Choice Time: Students could explore anywhere around the room. Students drew on the SmartBoard, built a road in Block Area, made crafts, and some made cards for their Mom's and Dads. Gym Time: Students chased after their friends. They are building their muscles/large motor skills. Dance Party Friday: We danced to two silly songs. Ask your child to show you their dance moves!

We are in the Summer Season! Missouri Early Learning Guidelines: Science- Represents observations about living and nonliving things in a variety of ways. Outside Time: Students chased after their friends, played in the rock pit, and more. Zion Standards: Demonstrates Traveling Skills, Demonstrates Balancing Skills, and Participates Cooperatively and Constructively in Group Situations. Center 1: Students guessed how many bears were in the jar, then we counted each color to see which color had the most! Missouri Early Learning Guidelines: Math- Exploring Data (Probability)- Collects, organizes and displays information. Center 2: Students were to build with their friends. Zion Standards: Demonstrates Fine Motor Manipulative Skills and Establishes and Sustains Positive Relationships. Center 1: With Mrs. Buchholz, students were to string beads onto string.
